What is a taxable supply?

A supply must be taxable in order to be subject to GST. A taxable supply is defined as any supply of commodities or services, or both, that is subject to taxation under the GST Act. Exemptions may be granted to specific items or services, as well as to a specific group of people or businesses who supply them.
