Job work is defined as “any treatment or process undertaken by a person on goods belonging to another registered person” under Section 2(68) of the CGST Act, 2017. A person who does the task is referred to as a ‘job worker.’ Note, that the goods do not get transferred to the job worker; instead, the principal retains the possession.
